Learning in nature

The Audubon Nature Preschool
“Children are born naturalists. They explore the world with all of their senses, experiment in the environment, and communicate their discoveries to those around them.”   Learning in nature is something very near and dear to my heart. A couple year ago I went to a conference being held by Claire Warden she runs an outdoor nursery in Scotland Auchlone Nature Kindergarten. My life was forever changed from that moment on I always asked myself how am I involving nature in my children’s learning.  Bringing living plants into the classroom doesn’t really cut it is a great start though. Some examples that I always try to do is bring an art project outside instead of being inside. Who says that we only go outside for physical activity. Our children need nature in their life. Take them on a backyard scavenger hunt. That is math skills that we are now learning in nature. There are so much activities that we can bring outside. But remember bring  nature inside as well. I will put a link to Claire Wardens website below.
